Supporting people living with sickle cell disease in Haringey

This report, commissioned by the Haringey Advice Partnership, explores the experiences of people with sickle cell in Haringey and their challenges in accessing benefits and services. Sickle cell patients face psychosocial challenges affecting them and their families, including workplace discrimination, stigma, and inadequate pain management.
North Central London’s primary and secondary care has been criticized for slow responses, but improvements are underway at North Middlesex Hospital and the George Marsh Centre. The 2024 launch of the Community Red Cell Service shows increased recognition of red cell disorders.#
