The Haringey Volunteers’ Week Celebration and NavNet+ Networking Event took place on Friday 5 June 2026 at Mind in Haringey, bringing together volunteers, community organisations, and local leaders to celebrate the people who make a difference across the borough.
Hosted by Haringey Community Collaborative, which is managed by Public Voice and Mind in Haringey, the event formed part of Haringey’s Volunteers’ Week programme and recognised the vital contribution of volunteers to local communities.
The afternoon opened with speeches from Haringey’s new Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Ata Berk Aksit, and former Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sue Jameson. Guests also heard from local volunteer Rolf Maass, who shared how volunteering helped him rebuild his confidence after redundancy and ultimately led to paid employment.
Juliet Chard, VCS Capacity Building Lead, and Moussa Amine Sylla from the Haringey Community Food Network presented the Steve Hill Memorial Award, recognising the outstanding contributions of volunteers supporting food projects across Haringey.
Attendees enjoyed lunch, networking opportunities, and inclusive activities delivered by WAVE for Change, before a lively performance by Candy’s Dance Stars. The event concluded with a screening of The Volunteer 1.0, introduced by director O.G. Dawodu.
