Turkish Interpreter
Hours of work: 8 hours per week
Based: Hybrid, Tottenham Town Hall office
Turkish Interpreter required, 8 hours per week (Closing date: 13th July 2026)
We are seeking a Turkish Interpreter to assist our Neighbourhoods service in Woodberry Down Estate, Hackney N4. Needed for 8 hours per week at our advice surgeries which are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2-6pm.
Ideally suited for someone who is self-employed, paid monthly at £25 per hour.
Experience
The role requires someone to be able to translate and provide advice around housing and regeneration so experience in this area would be beneficial to be able to understand terminology and translate into Turkish. You should have experience of undertaking interpretation and translation work, with an in-depth knowledge of Turkish. Along with experience in giving advice and information on culture, language and related issues.
Skills and Abilities
- To freely communicate between Turkish and English in a cultural context.
- To interpret and translate with a good standard from English to Turkish and vice versa.
- The ability to listen, question and seek information so as to communicate effectively, clearly and precisely in both languages at speed.
- Able to handle difficult situations in a constructive and helpful manner.
- To maintain objectivity and to interpret/translate honestly without changing meaning.
- To maintain confidentiality.
A DBS check will be required.
